Jaw Dropping Yellowstone Road Trip!!
12 Night Las Vegas & Yellowstone Road Trip:
This 12 night road trip we did in 2025. It was one of the best holidays we have ever had.
If Yellowstone is on your bucket list, then I would only strongly recommend you do it. This trip starts and ends in Las Vegas, but to be honest you could link it with Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle or even Vancouver.
We researched (a lot) before we took the trip. Time of year is critical, location is too and the length of visit determines how much you see and at what pace.
This is a road trip that contrasts the most beautiful natural place on the planet with the most beautiful man-made place on the planet! (in our opinion!)
Nights 1, 2 & 3: Las Vegas
Fly direct to Las Vegas and enjoy 3 nights in Sin City
What happens here stays here, apart from the memories that you’ll take home and have forever! Dine in some of the world’s best restaurants, stay in iconic hotels, and see some of the global superstars in shows from intimate theatres to sold out stadiums.
It wouldn’t be a trip to Vegas without trying your hand at gambling. Whether Roulette, Blackjack or Craps is your game, there’s a game for everyone, including multi-million dollar jackpots on the slots!
Walk the famous strip, marvel at the different hotels, from the south the pyramid of Luxor and the medieval castle of Excalibur then onto the skyscrapers of New York New York, and the iconic dancing fountains of Bellagio. North beyond Caeser’s Palace you find the stylish Venetian with its gondolas and replica of St Marks’ Square, and you still have more to see!
If this all sounds exhausting, then you’ll be delighted to know that Vegas has some of the best pool complexes in the world! From the lazy river of MGM Grand, the beach at Mandalay Bay, and the tranquil pools at Bellagio, there’s a pool for everyone and every budget!
So, pack your comfy walking shoes, a daily budget and put a smile on your face and roll the dice on where we call Disneyland for adults!

Night 4: Salt Lake City
It’s too far to do Vegas to Yellowstone in one day, so we break it up on the way there and back.
Salt Lake City is a good 5 hours from both and an interesting city to spend an evening. Alternatively, you can take the desert road and find yourself in a one-horse town. That’s what we did, and if you want to do the same, let us know, it’s all customised to you!
Nights 5-10: Yellowstone Park
Yellowstone National Park has a way of making you feel small in the best possible sense. It’s a place where the earth breathes, the ground steams, and wildlife still roams with a freedom that feels almost prehistoric. For many travellers, it’s the closest thing to stepping into a living nature documentary, a landscape so alive and dramatic that every bend in the road brings a new moment of awe.
What strikes you first is the sheer scale of the park. Spanning nearly 3,500 square miles across Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, Yellowstone is a world of its own. Its most iconic sights are instantly recognisable: Old Faithful, erupting with clockwork reliability; the kaleidoscopic colours of Grand Prismatic Spring; the thundering power of Lower Falls in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Each landmark feels like a masterpiece carved by time, heat, and the raw forces of nature.
But Yellowstone’s true magic lies in its wildlife. This is one of the few places in the United States where animals still dominate the landscape. In the early morning, mist hangs low over Lamar Valley, often called “America’s Serengeti,” where bison herds graze in the golden light. Their silhouettes move slowly across the grasslands, ancient and unhurried. Wolves, reintroduced in the 1990s, sometimes appear as grey shadows trotting along ridgelines, their presence a reminder of how wild this place truly is.
In Hayden Valley, it’s not uncommon to spot grizzly bears turning over logs in search of insects or black bears wandering through meadows dotted with wildflowers. Elk bugle in the autumn, their haunting calls echoing across the hills. Bald eagles circle above the rivers, while otters slip playfully through the water. Every encounter feels unscripted, authentic, and deeply memorable.

The geothermal features add another layer of wonder. Yellowstone sits atop one of the world’s largest active volcanoes, and the landscape constantly reveals that fiery heart. Mud pots bubble like cauldrons, fumaroles hiss with steam, and hot springs shimmer in impossible shades of turquoise, orange, and gold. Walking the boardwalks around Norris Geyser Basin or Mammoth Hot Springs feels like exploring another planet.
Yet despite its dramatic features, Yellowstone also offers quiet moments: a picnic beside Yellowstone Lake, a peaceful hike through lodgepole pine forests, or a sunset that paints the sky in soft pastels. It’s a place where nature feels both powerful and peaceful, where wildlife thrives, and where visitors leave with a renewed sense of wonder.
Depending on what you want to see, your time of year and number of nights we would create a mini-Yellowstone itinerary for you! Giving you advice on where to spend your time and tips we picked up. We stayed for 5 nights, which felt long enough to not be rushed, and we saw Bears (and cubs) Wolves, Bison (and young) Elk, Eagles, and many others.
Night 11: Park City
Head out of the south entrance of the park and continue through the wonderful Grand Teton National Park, onto Jackson for lunch and arriving in the ski resort of Park City before dinner. Enjoy the city for an evening, there are many bars and restaurants in this purpose-built town.
Night 12: Las Vegas
Arrive back in Vegas to enjoy one last night before catching the direct flight home the following day.
